Did you Know?:
A flashing Blue Light on a
vehicle means a volunteer is
responding to a emergency.
Please give the firefighter
the right of way. Someone’s
life may depend on it.
-
Did you know that upon
the approach of an
authorized emergency
vehicle (police, fire
and ambulance)
displaying at least one
emergency light and when
sounding a siren the
driver of another motor
vehicle shall yield the
right of way and shall
immediately drive to a
position parallel to and
close as possible to the
right hand side of the
roadway.
Why
are we telling you this?
Because many motorists
aren’t familiar with the
law, or they just don’t use
common sense.
Additionally:
-
You must stay back at
least 200 feet from a
fire truck, it can stop
suddenly.
-
It is unlawful to pass
an emergency vehicle
displaying emergency
lights.
-
If you hear a siren
please pull over to the
right side of the road
and stop to let the
vehicle pass. And use
caution because there
might be more vehicles
behind it.
-
Don’t ever drive over a
fire hose. You can
damage the hose and put
firefighters in danger
who are counting on that
supply of water.
-
If you park in front of
a hydrant or sprinkler
connection or in a fire
zone you are not only
parking illegal but your
car may be damaged if
the fire dept needs
emergency access to the
area.
